“I don’t know how you can indict while he’s in office. No matter what it is,” he said.
The President’s attorney said Trump would face impeachment rather than prosecution if he had shot former FBI Director James Comey in the Oval Office to end the Russia probe instead of firing him, which Trump did last May.
“If he shot James Comey, he’d be impeached the next day,” Giuliani said to HuffPost. “Impeach him, and then you can do whatever you want to do to him.”
This was clearly a reference to the legal reality that you cannot indict a sitting President. As Rudy said, you can’t do it for anything, not even murder.
You must impeach first and then indict. This is a simple legal truism yet the left blew up over the language and went ballistic.
They used it to claim Trump is an authoritarian and their usual whines…all wrong of course.
It is their patented phony outrage. And there is no one faker than Jim Acosta.
Who asked Sarah today:
“Rudy Guiliani, the President’s outside said…” and then emphasized the word “shot” as if Jim was some Hollywood actor reading another liberal script.
He went on, all long in the tooth, asking “if this was appropriate language to coming from Trump’s outside lawyer…to talk about the President shooting James Comey.”
Sarah shot back,
“You will have to ask Rudy Guiliani about that and once again the president hasn’t done anything wrong” so he doesn’t have anything to worry about or need to use his pardon power.
Jim wasn’t satisfied…
“I have a follow-up.” Sarah tried to move on and Jim kept rudely interrupted her so she looked right at the hapless Acosta and said…
“Not today Jim.”
“Others have had follow up questions,” Accosta whined.
“They haven’t actually, Jim,” and she shut Jim down and moved on as Jim buried his head in his hands like a little school kid.
