Al Sharpton just couldn’t help himself. Even at a funeral, the guy had to take a few shots at President Trump.
Such a waste. In some places and times, politics is not appropriate and should be left alone.
“When word went out that Ms. Franklin passed, Trump said, ‘She used to work for me,’” Sharpton said. “No, she used to perform for you. She worked for us.”
He added: “She stood for something, she never shamed us she never disgraced us. … She represented the best in our community, and she fought for our community until the end.”
“Aretha never took orders from nobody but God.”
Sharpton said Franklin was a freedom fighter and called her “the soundtrack of the civil rights movement.”
“She stood for something, she never shamed us she never disgraced us, she represented the best in our community and she fought for our community until the end,” he said.
But Al wasn’t finished and he brought up the infamous moment when he misspelled Respect and got bashed to no end for it.
Look, we make mistakes but you will and should be held to a higher standard if you have a national TV show.
You know, the other Sunday on my show, I misspelled ‘Respect,’ and a lot of y’all corrected me,” he said. “Now, I want y’all to help me correct President Trump to help teach him what it means.”
